Tackling sustainability as a business can be challenging. You want your company to have a positive impact on the world beyond what you do already. But not quite sure where to begin or know how you can contribute.
RainforestLand (prev. Treeferral) enables to you to effortlessly and continuously replant trees and forests at scale and fund a range of restoration of natural habitats, biodiversity (eg. rainforest, temperate, fruit tree and shrubs more) and other climate positive projects around the globe. We work with NGOs and foundations (like our partner Eden Reforestation Projects) who specialise in tree planting and reforestation to get trees in the ground.
By joining RainforestLand you're directly helping to create a positive impact on the world, reduce emissions overall as a company and finance biodiversity restoration.
Your trees are planted in different parts of the world and different countries — Madagascar, Indonesia, Mozambique, Nepal, Kenya, Brazil, The Philippines, Ethiopia just to name a few.
You’ll have different trees planted for you, from mangroves, to tropical trees, trees that flower, palm trees, evergreen types, fruit trees, tall trees, little trees, shrubs and everything in between. Each tree planted is native to each country and will help to restore biodiversity to the region, sequester carbon emissions, contribute to mitigating the effects of climate change, make space and create natural habitats and worlds for wildlife and insects and grow into the beautiful things they are.
Not only does every trees planted help restore the native ecology, environment and improve the land. But also provides financial support to people and communities living in extreme poverty.

Madagascar, home to a unique array of biodiversity, faces an environmental crisis with over 90% of its original forests lost primarily to deforestation, impacting countless endemic species and human communities. Eden Reforestation Projects have planted over 200 million trees across 46 sites, making significant strides in habitat restoration and carbon sequestration, which is vital for both local and global ecological health.
View project →In Mozambique, over 45% of the population lives below the poverty line, heavily dependent on forests that are vital for their socio-economic and environmental well-being. Since 2018, Eden Reforestation Projects have been actively restoring these crucial ecosystems, with over 280,000 mangrove trees planted initially and ongoing efforts across 38 sites, helping to enhance biodiversity, stabilize the environment, and provide essential employment in underserved communities.
View project →In Kenya, only 8% of the land is forested and 25% of the population lives below the poverty line, extensive deforestation due to logging, charcoal burning, and illegal settlements has spurred severe environmental and economic issues. Since 2019, Eden Reforestation Projects has planted over 50,000 trees and now manages 46,325+ hectares across 26 sites, partnering with local trusts and the government to restore forests, protect wildlife habitats, and provide sustainable livelihoods, aiming to increase forest cover to 10%.
View project →In Ethiopia, where 23.5% of the population lives below the poverty line, Eden Reforestation Projects aims to counter severe deforestation—428,000 hectares lost from 2001 to 2020—by implementing restoration projects that enhance water resources, reduce landslide impacts, and provide fair wage employment. Initiated in 2005 at the request of Ethiopia’s then-President, the projects have planted nearly 16 million trees, and now, revisiting with a focus on sustainable methods like agroforestry and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration, they manage over 2,360 hectares in the Dawuro zone to revitalize both the community and landscape.
View project →In Brazil, over 62 million hectares of forest were lost over two decades and 9.3 million people live below the extreme poverty line, Eden Reforestation Projects are actively restoring 30,000 hectares of critical ecosystems across three states—Goiás, Maranhão, and Piauí. Focused on the Amazon, Cerrado, and coastal mangroves, their work supports biodiversity, mitigates climate change, and provides financial opportunities for local communities, including indigenous and Quilombola groups, through direct employment and training initiatives like the Hands in the Dirt Training Center.
View project →In Honduras, where 1.26 million hectares of forest were lost over two decades primarily due to pine beetle infestations and fires, the Eden Reforestation Projects are working to restore over 11,000 hectares. Their efforts focus on reforesting diverse ecosystems including cloud, tropical, and mountain forests to revitalize water sources, biodiversity, and provide sustainable economic opportunities for local communities, 48% of whom live below the poverty line.
View project →In the Philippines, deforestation initiated in the 1960s has eradicated nearly 90% of forests, causing significant disruptions to biodiversity and indigenous communities. Eden Reforestation Projects, established in 2021, are actively restoring these landscapes with over 16,045 hectares currently under management, focusing on reforestation and sustainable practices in areas like Kibuwa and Canitoan to combat ongoing environmental and socio-economic challenges.
View project →In Nepal, where less than 30% of original forests remain, the Eden Reforestation Projects initiated in 2014 are combatting severe environmental degradation which threatens local communities and wildlife, including 27 endangered mammal species. Through partnerships and extensive reforestation efforts across diverse terrains from the Nawalparasi mountains to the Chitwan National Park, they manage over 6,625 hectares, providing sustainable employment and restoring vital ecosystems.

Contact usUnfortunately not, planting trees with RainforestLand is not a certified carbon offset. However, planting trees does definitely help to reduce greenhouse emissions in our atmosphere. This can't be claimed as a verified offset though.
If you want to try to plant the amount of trees needed to match the footprint of your lifestyle, then go wild! On average a mature tree absorbs between 14-22kg (31-48lbs) of CO2 each year. You can calculate your footprint using the WWF carbon footprint calculator and then divide tonnes of your carbon footprint from the calculator by the above.
For reference, here are a few quick calculations for number of trees to plant based on per capita averages for people living these countries:
~422 trees / year = France (5.2 tonnes CO2 each year)
~534 trees / year = Germany (9.1 tonnes CO2 each year)
~968 trees / year = USA (16.6 tonnes CO2 each year)
~3,082 trees / year = Qatar (38.0 tonnes CO2 each year)
If you're looking for really great certified carbon offsets you can go to Nul. Full disclosure, I'm a co-founder in this as well :)

With help from Eden Reforestation Projects and other reforestation projects, your trees are planted across the globe in Madagascar, Haiti, Nepal, Indonesia, Mozambique, Kenya, and various other countries.
Trees not surviving happens for various reasons from time to time. Sometimes the trees and plants you're supporting will naturally regenerate more new seedling than was originally planted — for example, this can be as much as 150% more with mangroves than the amount that was planted.
However, if you sign up from a referral link we'll plant an additional 10% extra trees on top of the trees you already plant. We'll do this each billing cycle (for free) as long as you're subscribed.
So there's likely many, many more trees growing than you originally chose to plant, based on a combination of natural regeneration and the extra trees added if you signed up from referral link.
Amazing! I'd love to hear it. You can send us an email here.
